“Romancing Possibilities” was shot in the Anza Borrego and Valley of Fire deserts in 2016. The desert is a permanent fixture in my family history, hailing from Tunisian nomadic tribes. Wandering the California and Nevada deserts I was looking for that connexion with my family’s roots while piecing together my new life in California. The desert is a blank slate and a great metaphor for life: it is as beautiful as it is hostile, untamable and fascinating. Enveloped in hot desert winds, life’s possibilities seem endless. In this series of photographs, I wanted to capture the grounding stillness of the desert.
Show opening August 26th at Treehaus in Atwater Village, Los Angeles.
